Pretty Impatiens

Our hanging baskets are looking wonderful this year, especially the beautiful impatiens baskets.  This is a double impatiens with very bright coral and pinkish flowers, just spectacularly full!  Although it is still a little early to put tender annuals outside, we are taking good care of these babies in our greenhouse, as well as all the other plants that are growing.  Just wanted to give you a sneak peak!

Curly Willow Trees

Waukesha Floral was thrilled to provide flowers and plants for the International Cheesemakers Expo this past week at the Frontier Center. Denise created two dynamic trees made from curly willow and red orchid sprays, featuring hanging candle cups and finished with a base of red flowers and fingerleaf philodendron. Each tree was over 6' tall and made a beautiful display at the entry and on the stage for the awards show. Thank you to the cheesemakers for allowing us to participate and enhance their wonderful expo with the beauty of flowers!

Fascinating Gerbera Daisies

The Gerbera Daisy is one of the happiest flowers in the shop! Big, bold and bright in a variety of colors, this perky posy is used for both cut flower arrangements and as outdoor bedding plants. The flowers on the plant can be as much as 4-5" across and range from white to any shade of pink, red, yellow or orange you can imagine. They are great in bouquets or vases and require a water source to last the longest. As an outdoor plant, make sure they receive plenty of light and keep the soil slightly moist while blooming. As potted plants, they will last up to 6 weeks with proper care. When using them in outdoor planters, you may need to pop the plant out when it's done blooming and replace with a new blooming annual for long lasting color.

This picture was given to us by one of the Art's Cameras Flowers Close Up students and shows the intricate detail in each layer of the flower... details we seldom notice!

More Easter Flowers

Equal space is given to these bloomers in our greenhouse, ready for Easter! Of course, after showing the pretty pink Hydrangea, the blue must be given its day in the spotlight. Easter lilies are blooming brightly and so fragrant! Finally, a bright pink daisy mum caught my attention today. All are easy to care for and just the best quality!

Spring Hydrangea

The Easter season is upon us! Many churches and homes decorate with beautiful blooming plants such as the Hydrangea. This pink beauty was photographed in our greenhouse by one of the Art's Camera's students... what a wonderful close-up!

Hydrangea plants outdoors typically bloom white in Wisconsin. But they can be tricked into colors by adding an acidic fertilizer regularly to the soil in summer. As an indoor plant they can be very rewarding. The main trick is to be sure the soil doesn't dry out, and to keep the plant away from drafty areas (much like a poinsettia plant). With proper care, the Hydrangea can easily last from 6 weeks to 2 months.

Waukesha Floral currently has a nice supply of both pink and blue plants, plus gorgeous Easter Lilies that have been given our TLC. Stop by!
