A Robe of Flowers

Denise chose to make a robe of flowers to compliment her art piece at The Milwaukee Art Musuem's Art in Bloom. Using a dress base filled with styrofoam and Oasis floral foam, Denise used hundreds of white and pink carnations, plus a belt of pink carnation flowers, to make her work of art. She estimates that the total time involved was about 15 hours.

Congratulations on a job well done, Denise! We can't wait to see what will be next year's art work!

Waukesha Floral's own Denise Gehrke, AIFD will be designing for the masterpiece pictured here, Robert Henri's Betalo Nude, painted in 1916. Denise will use hundreds of white and pink carnations to create a floral piece that will compliment the artist's depiction of the feminine form. Please visit The Art Museum this weekend to see Denise's floral creation as well as those of other talented designers throughout the area. Of course, Raphael's The Woman with the Veil is also on display at this time.

Planting is Underway!

The greenhouse is starting to fill with the beautiful flowers, grasses and decorative foliage plants that will fill our gardens this summer. Tom and his contingent of greenhouse gals have been planting for a few weeks and there are hundreds of pots of geraniums, petunias, coleus, begonias, portulaca.... and a lot more! We also have some nice decorative iron hanging baskets this year. Stop in any time and view the seedlings.
